Wolverhampton College

A J Taylor Electrical Contractors

Appointed through the Constructing West Midlands Framework, Interclass completed the new extension and refurbishment project at City of Wolverhampton College.

The 400 square metre project – in the Construction Innovation Centre at the college’s Wellington Road campus – provided two purpose-built mezzanine areas which housed the new electrical and plumbing workshops, as well as refurbished training areas for students doing qualifications in gas and painting and decorating.

All areas were equipped with industry-standard tools and equipment so that students will gain experience of using the same kit as they will in the workplace, such as Arc Fault Detection devices (AFDD’s) and split metered consumer units in the electrical bays. All workplace bays were fitted with emergency stop contactor controlled 110v outlets via on the site LV transformers, complete with key switch isolation override and Red Neon indicator and buzzer to indicate when the bays are powered up by the college tutor.

High-quality interactive teaching to students who able unable to attend sessions in person

Whilst working on site A J Taylor Ltd took part in the student engagement programme to provide work experience for the Students. This enabled the students to have a hands on-site experience to assist with their education.

The scheme will also provide two additional classrooms, equipped with cutting-edge hybrid learning technology to give access to high-quality interactive teaching to students who able unable to attend sessions in person.
