A J Taylor Ltd recently completed the design & installation of the electrical services for Alcema to a new 2-storey teaching block & single storey link at Sherbourne Fields SEN School, Coventry.
The new teaching block provides 10 additional classrooms along with associated ancillary accommodation, while the single storey link block provides connectivity to the existing school and houses a Hospitality teaching space as well as a new 6th Form social space.
Classrooms have been provided with scene plates to allow for the lighting to be adapted to suit written, projection or AV teaching presentations.
Power & data systems have been provided within the building, utilising flush or dado mounted wiring accessories as necessary. The structured cabling installation utilises Cat6a wiring thereby future-proofing the data system.
Other services include perimeter security systems comprising access control, intruder alarm & CCTV, facilities for the disabled such as audio enhancement systems, automated doors and alarms to toilets and hygiene rooms.
An automatic fire detection & alarm system has been provided through-out the building, complete with a sprinkler system. The fire alarm system links to the existing site wide system and also provides class-change facilities.
Externally, lighting in accordance with the relevant codes for safe access has been provided, with due consideration to minimise light pollution and undue disturbance to local wildlife. The site includes a large carpark complete with an electric vehicle charging point.
